Medical Reiki is the practice of bringing Reiki into healthcare settings
to support patients undergoing medical procedures.
As a Certified Medical Reiki Master, CMRM
I have been trained to provide Reiki to patients while working unobtrusively with the medical team in surgical suites and elsewhere in healthcare facilities.
In the time since I was trained and certified as a Medical Reiki Master by Raven Keyes in 2017, I have supported numerous clients with Reiki before, during and after medical procedures.
As a holistic, non-invasive healing treatment, Reiki helps to reduce stress, pain, and tension by regulating the parasympathetic nervous system. A key benefit of Reiki is that it supports conventional medicine without negative side effects or contraindications. Having experienced firsthand the significant benefits of providing Reiki to individuals dealing with a variety of medical issues in a various healthcare settings, I now serve on the Board of Directors for Medical Reiki Works, a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization.

Medical Reiki Works was founded to support Research
and Education of Reiki in Healthcare.
To make Medical Reiki available to everyone, and for medical insurance to pay for it,
a scientific evidence base is needed. For nearly 25 years, the practice of Medical Reiki
has brought immense relief to patients experiencing medical challenges,
leading to better outcomes for these individuals. However, it has only been available
in select hospitals for those who can afford it.
When Medical Reiki practitioners partner with allopathic medical professionals patients undergoing medical procedures the outcomes tend to be more positive.
BACKGROUND
It all started in 2000, when Raven Keyes, co-founder of Medical Reiki Works, received approval to administer Reiki to a patient undergoing open-heart surgery
at New York's Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
In the years that followed, Ms. Keyes found her passion as a Reiki Master when she was able to assist patients during surgery. She did almost exclusively with Dr. Sheldon Marc Feldman, MD, FACS; Chair MRW Board of Advisors; Chief, Breast Surgery and Breast Surgical Oncology; Professor, Surgery and Director, Breast Cancer Services at Montefiore Einstein. As a result of having Raven in the OR to provide Reiki to his patients during breast surgery, Dr. Feldman, observed that when a Reiki Master was present to administer Reiki to the patient, the operations went more smoothly, with positive outcomes. Patients seemed to experience less bleeding, and minimal to no pain following their surgery. Over all, they appeared to heal much faster.
As a result of these findings, Dr. Feldman and Raven Keyes joined forces to form Medical Reiki Works™. Their goal was to fund a clinical trial to be conducted to demonstrate the efficacy of integrating Reiki with modern medicine. Medical Reiki Works™ was created in 2017 to raise awareness and the funds for this important research. The pilot study for the clinical trial is currently taking place..
